Comfort Inn and Suites Review 2007

Comfort inn and suites-300 East Katella Way

The hotel itself was very nice. The rooms were comfortable and reasonably spacious. We had 3 rooms and they were all pretty much the same. All the rooms here have microwaves and mini fridges. We stayed at the comfort inn Jan. 6-13, 2007. When we booked almost a year in advance we got AAA rates of $59 a night and senior rates of $63 a night. A month later they were $90 a night. You need to call the hotel directly to get the senior rate that low.

The day we left they were replacing all the microwaves and mini fridges with new ones. They were also in the process of replacing the beds. The rooms were clean.

In the lobby they have a complimentary breakfast each morning consisting of make it yourself waffles, milk and cereal, fruit, rolls, donuts, juice, and coffee. The breakfast was good and made a good start to the day without eating out. There is no restaurant at the hotel but there are many within driving distance and a Mexican restaurant across the street.

There is wireless internet in the rooms for a fee I believe or there is a computer in the lobby that guests can use for free.

The front desk staff was exceptional and very helpful.

The hotel does have a pool although we did not get to use it. It was closed without notice the day we arrived. The only notice was a small sign at the front desk that said it would reopen the next day every day. The weather was beautiful and warm when we arrived and the pool reopened the day the weather turned too cold to swim.

There was adequate parking while we were there during the off season but could be a problem during peak time.

The hotel is not within walking distance unless you want a very long walk and I mean long. The ART does pickup at the hotel. One day passes are available at the front desk for $3. The pickup location is located around the corner from the hotel on the onramp to the freeway.  The ART bus route is H. The bus service on this route is very unreliable. The busses are supposed to pickup every 20 minutes but that never happened. We had waits of up to 1 hour and were told that the day before we arrived that the wait was worse. The problem is that the H bus was covering 3 other routes even though the driver was still saying 20 minutes between busses.

In the reviews that I read before going several people complained that this location was unsafe and dangerous but I did not find that to be so as long as you watch your kids. There is plenty of area on the hotel side of the sidewalk for kids to stay while waiting. The ART bus route is H. The bus service on this route is very unreliable. The busses are supposed to pickup every 20 minutes but that never happened. We had waits of up to 1 hour and were told that the day before we arrived the wait was worse. The problem is that the H bus was covering 3 other routes even though the driver was still saying 20 minutes between busses. This is the worst route as most the other routes seemed to run pretty much on time. We saw the other routes picking up 2-3 times at the DLR stop while we waited for our bus.
