General Disneyland Information

Park Hopping and Reentry

Park hopping, or simply leaving Disneyland or Disney's California Adventure to return to your hotel or visit Downtown Disney will require two items for reentry. When you leave the Park, be sure to get your hand stamped. Everyone in your party with a ticket will need a hand stamp, as well as a ticket to be allowed back into the original Park, or to go from Park to Park. The hand stamp you receive upon leaving Disneyland or Disney's California Adventure is sturdy, and can withstand showers or swimming at your hotel's pool. Simply having a ticket will NOT gain reentry into either Park, nor will it allow you to go between the two. The hand stamp is required to keep people from selling partially used tickets.

Locker Rental

If you have way too much to carry around while at Disneyland, you can rent a locker. The locker locations are as follows:

Disneyland: Small and Large lockers can be found behind the large fruit stand on Main Street.

Disney's California Adventure: Small and Large lockers are on the right in entrance plaza.

For the other sizes, the lockers are to the left of each park, outside the gates. The extra large lockers are located near the picnic area for Disneyland.

Dimensions for the lockers and rental cost per day (February 2006 prices) are as follows:

*All locker dimensions are given in inches

Small: 9 ½ x 11 x18 rental fee $6.00
Medium: 12 ½ x 17 x 18 rental fee $7.00
Large: 15 x 16 ½ x 22½ rental fee $8.00
Extra large: 15 x 23 x 23 rental fee $10.00

The lockers do go very quickly, so if you are in need of a locker, be sure to get one before doing anything else at the Disneyland Resort.

If by chance you are thinking of getting a locker to store a walker while renting a wheelchair or electric scooter, you can save your money, and leave that walker with the Cast Members when you rent the wheelchair!

Acceptable clothing

The Disneyland Resort in California requires that each person entering the Parks must be wearing a shirt and shoes at all times. In addition to this, clothing with obscene language will not be allowed into the Disneyland Resort. This is a family destination, and Disneyland can refuse anyone entry for inappropriate dress.

Photography and Video Recording

It is permissible to take photos or videotape almost everything at the Disneyland Resort in California, unless otherwise noted. What is not allowed though is the use of flash photography or video lighting on most of the attractions. If you plan on taking pictures or video inside an attraction, make sure your lighting source can be turned off or removed.

Enjoying food and drink

While the Disneyland Resort has a plethora of choices for food and drink, there are some restrictions on where you can eat. For example, most attractions do not allow food or drink with a few exceptions. The Enchanted Tiki Room is one location where you can enjoy the show and bring in a drink. Drinks are not allowed in the Hyperion Theater in Disney's California Adventure. Generally, bottles that close can be carried with you onto an attraction, but if it can't be sealed it is not allowed.

Parking information

The Disneyland parking lots can be reached directly from Interstate-5, or if you are local, they can be reached from Disneyland Drive. Each lot provides Tram service that runs approximately every 5 minutes. Generally, the parking lots open a minimum of 1 hour prior to Disneyland opening. The cost to park in the Mickey and Friends lot is $10.00 per day. No overnight parking is allowed.

Smoking Policies

As of May 2019 smoking is no longer allowed in the Disney Parks and Downtown Disney

Photo's taken by Cast Members and by you

One thing you will not see plenty of at both Disneyland and Disney's California Adventure are photographers. These Cast Members will take your picture and give you a slip of paper with your number on it. You can usually pick up the pictures, or simply look at them if you are unsure about purchasing them two hours after the photo was taken.

At Disneyland, you can preview and purchase your photos all in one location, at the Photo Supply Co. on Main Street near the Plaza Inn. There are many times of day when the wait to view pictures is very long. It is best to do this early in the day, and you don't have to do it the day the pictures were taken. It is most busy at this location right before closing.

At Disney's California Adventure, your pictures can be viewed and purchased at Greetings from California in the Entry Plaza. Once again, it gets very busy here before park closing, so is best to view your pictures early in the day.

Many times, you will find that the Cast Members have totally captured the moment and you really want that picture. The cost for your pictures will depend on the size you select and the package available when you purchase.

If you have photos that you don't want to wait to see, you can also have them developed at the Photo Supply Co. in Disneyland or Greetings from California at California Adventure.

Rain and inclement weather

If it rains while you are at the Disneyland Resort, consider yourself lucky! Rain greatly diminishes crowds, yet most of the attractions remain open because they are under cover. You may find some closures, such as California Screamin' at Disney's California Adventure simply because it is totally exposed. Rain gear such as ponchos can be purchase 'under the counter' at both parks. You generally have to ask at the counter in order to purchase these items. The ponchos will keep you dry, and are a great keepsake of your vacation. The entertainment will suffer in rain though, as fireworks, Fantasmic! and the parades are all cancelled in the rain. Fireworks and Fantasmic! can also be canceled due to high winds. If it is pouring, and you don't feel like visiting the attractions, head to indoor locations such as Innoventions, the 50th Exhibit on Main Street, and the houses in Toontown.

Characters are harder to find in the rain, so look indoors for your favorite Disney Character. Ideal places to look are in Toontown, and on Main Street next to the Mad Hatter Store.

Lost and Found

If you lose something while at the Disneyland Resort, check with the lost and found department. In Disneyland that department is near the lockers on Main Street. If you find something, this is also where you take the item. If you lose or find something while at Disney's California Adventure, go to Guest Relations, on the East side of Entry Plaza.

If you lost something, but don't realize it until you get home call 714-781-4765 for assistance.

Lost Children

If the unthinkable happens and you lose a child, alert the first Cast Member you see. You will need to describe your child, including what your child is wearing. You will also need to report where you last saw your child. The Disneyland Resort Security team is very efficient in helping to locate lost children. If your child is old enough to understand, you might also want to instruct them that if they ever get lost, they need to tell a Cast Member as soon as possible.

Some ideas to help locate your child:
Make sure your child has something on them with your name and cell phone number, and your child's name if they are too young to talk clearly.

This information can be in the form of something attached to your child's clothing, or another simple idea is to purchase a 'dog' tag with the information, and have your child where it as a necklace.

Whatever you choose to help identify your child, it would be a good idea to waterproof the information.

Guest Relations/Customer Service

Did you have wonderful interaction with a Cast Member that you want to share with someone? Did something bad happen that you need to talk to someone about? Do you have general questions, such as where you can find a specific character? To do any of these things, you will need to visit Guest Relations. At Disneyland, Guest Relations is located in City Hall, which is located in Town Square next to the Disneyland Fire Station. At Disney's California Adventure Guess Relations is located on the East Size of Entry Plaza near the Golden Gate Bridge.

If you need to pick up tickets for Fantasmic! or something else you have previously paid for on the phone, the Guest Relations office for this is outside Disneyland Park, to the left of the entry gates.

Pets

Aside from service animals, pets are not allowed at the Disneyland Resort. Inside Disney's parking garage are kennels for your pets. Please don't leave them in the car, as that can be very dangerous for your beloved family member. If you are leaving a small animal such as a bird, hamster or mouse, even a snake or turtle, these animals must be handed over to the Cast Members in their own cage.

The Disneyland Resort will allow almost any animal in the kennels, with the exception of cattle, horses, and llamas.

Please be aware that your animal will only be fed at your request. If you are leaving something other than a dog or cat, you will need to supply your pets food to the Kennel Cast Members.

The kennels keep the same hours at Disneyland Park. No overnight stays are allowed. The kennels do tend to be very busy at opening and closing, so keep that in mind if you are leaving an animal.

Putting your animals in the Disneyland Kennel's does cost $20.00 per day. This fee can be paid with cash or  credit cards at the Disneyland Kennels.

Banking at the Disneyland Resort

The Bank of Main Street in Disneyland Park can sell Disney Dollars, cash traveler's checks and do foreign money exchange. There is no need to go to an outside bank if you are at Disneyland from an international destination.
