Residence Inn Resort Area (Garden Grove) Review

This was a nice hotel which has had some updates. It has a great marble entrance where you can look on to the breakfast/kids area that leads out to a BBQ and pool area (they have a 1 foot wading pool!) with basketball court and easy access to the Hyatt which has a Starbucks :) .

The "business center" is pay as you go but there is free internet connection in room if you bring your own computer, they also have a convenient laundry room (1.75 to wash 1.50 to dry) and arcade for kids.

We got the two room kids suite so they had their own bunk bed room w/ bathroom complete with table and chairs and TV (this was exciting for our 4 year old even though he has a bunk bed at home). We had a "king" bed which seemed unusually short, the pillows were awful and the kids mattresses only had sheets, no mattress covers.

The kitchen was great, newer appliances and cabinets, perfect sized dinner table and cozy living room.

One downside is that the rooms have their own AC units but they're huge and the main unit is in the bedroom and is REALLY loud especially when it kicks on. The windows in our room were filthy, we could barely see through them. When we called the front desk about it they came the next day and cleaned them and the room seemed much brighter after that.

The complimentary breakfast was really good. They have waffles ready to cook that are terrific, the fruit wasn't great though and we had trouble getting the kids to eat it. There were also scrambled eggs, sausage, tortillas, potatoes, cereal, juice, yogurt and pastries. Also, the kids get to watch Playhouse Disney on the flat screen TVs while eating breakfast which was a little distracting but I think it's what made breakfast quieter than expected. I should also mention the hotel is conveniently located in walking distance to Target, Red Robin and Outback Steakhouse and the ART shuttle picked up right outside our hotel.
