Soarin' Over California Review (2007)

Soarin’ Over California is a nice gentle ride that will show you many popular scenes from California from the vantage point of a hang glider.  This attraction is very well done and the scenes are absolutely incredible.  The special scene at the end will bring a smile to every face.  Soarin’ is done so well that there is usually clapping after the short 4 minute flight ends.

The outdoor queue for Soarin’ is not shaded at all, and if you must stand in line outside, it will mean a long wait; but this ride completely worth any wait at all.

Once you enter the building, which looks like an airplane hangar you will see the walls decorated with pictures of famous aviators throughout history.

Once you enter the loading area, you will be directed to either section A, B, or C, and row 1, 2, or 3.  The overall best view of this show is section B, row 1.  Any seat is good however; so if you are not in that section don’t worry.  Before you enter the theater you will have a pre-show hosted by Patrick Warburton.  This show will tell you a few safety rules with one very comical scene.  Once the pre-show is over you will enter the theater to strap yourself into your glider.

This is a wonderful ride that I can recommend for all ages once that 40 inch height requirement is met.  While I have a severe problem with motion sickness that causes me to wear a patch; I never feel any ill affects from this attraction (while even with the patch roller coasters tend to make me ill).  I also suffer from a fear of heights and that has never affected me on this attraction.  Instead I must consider this one my most favorite rides at the Disneyland Resort.  Our 4 year old son is now also to enjoy this attraction and it is also one of his favorites.
