Getting the Magic Back (July 19, 2008)

Getting the Magic Back

Well, it has been a long hard month for me.  My mother died on June 19th, and with her my love of Disney.  I was not sure why I lost that love until my dad mentioned that mom was the one who turned me toward Disney in the first place.

Then of course I remembered that mom is the one who often got me a Disney gift for my birthday, or for Christmas.  She was the one who took the time to needlepoint Mickey for me.

Mom, never a huge Disney fan on the outside, was someone I could always count on to understand my special love of all things Disney, and specifically Disneyland.

In the past month I have been doing things to help get the magic back into my life.  Disney music is something Alex and I always listen to.  No other music.  Just the Disney kind.  A month ago, I even took the Disney CD out of the car.  Now, the music is back in my life.  Disney is back in my life, and that love is quickly returning.

My most recent purchase was for the Camp Rock CD.  I have watched the movie several times, and love it.  And yes, I got the love of musicals from my mom too!  The music for the newest Disney Channel musical is wonderful.  I would even like to have Hasta La Vista as my ring tone!

Yes, I do love all things Disney.  I love the music, the movies, the characters, the history, and the parks.

This short article is dedicated to the memory of my mom.  Without her to introduce me, fight for me to go to Magic Music Days while in High School, and share her Disney Catalogues with me, this love probably would never have happened.  Thanks Mom!

What a lovely way to honor you mom! I bet she is so proud of how you’ve turn ya’lls love of Disney into something wonderful that’s able to help other people plan magical trips to the parks.

I hope that after you grieve for a while Disney will be what helps you to heal. The right words to comfort you just won’t come to me but I know, in time, you’ll be okay. Disney is such a wonderful, magical, happy part of our lives and I know, in your own time, you’ll be able to feel all the magic again.

Thanks ladies - I know if my Mom was alive to see this, she would be thrilled with the dedication, and I am getting my Disney love back slowly, but surely.
