Coral Reef Review, April 2008

Coral Reef
Location: Future World in Epcot
Time of Reservation: 6:50pm
Cost for 2 adults and 2 kids $119.50 (but we were on the dining plan)

Coral Reef is a restaurant located in The Seas pavilion at Epcot. You actually enter the restaurant to the right of the Nemo ride. Once you walk through the glass doors it feels like you have actually entered under the ocean right along with your viewing companions. We was seated in the upper level of seating for the restaurant and felt that the viewing area was horrible. They state that every table has a view of the aquarium tanks but I feel this is inaccurate. Our table was lined by a glass wall that was curvy to represent waves of water. With having this wall one side of the table was too high for the children to see over. However this was my only complaint about the restaurant. If we would have been on the lower level it wouldn’t have been a problem and the views of the fish would have kept my kids better entertained. They did enjoy looking at the fish guide booklet presented to the kids but again with our view it was hard to see and match the animals since the booklet was in blue and white.

For our drinks we were allowed to choose from a coconut or strawberry freeze along with the typical drink choices. This was extended to the children also. So Kyan and I had a coconut freeze, think pina colada without the alcohol. Trey chose a strawberry freeze while Troy had a soda. The kids had the Kids Pick meal and was gave the choice of French fries for an appetizer along with the normal choice of soup or carrot and celery sticks. Both had fries, mac & cheese for the entrée and ice cream sundaes for dessert. Troy and I both chose the NY strip with au gratin potatoes and broccolini. Our food was so good and served just the way it was requested. For dessert we both chose the Chocolate Wave. The Chocolate Wave is a chocolate cake served warm with a melt chocolate and liquor mixture inside it. Served on top of the cake were brandied cherries. We loved this cake it was so good, however it does contain alcohol so be careful not to share with little ones.

I would rate this meal a 8 out of 10.
