Storytellers Cafe Review April 2008

Storytellers Café Review April 2008

We decided to try Storytellers for dinner during our trip, and because it was off season I was able to make priority seating for the same day.

Storyteller’s Café is located at the Grand Californian and is well-known for it’s character breakfast.

Once we were seated we were told that if we wanted the buffet we could start immediately.  We had each looked at the buffet, and nothing really jumped out at us so we decided to order off the menu.

The buffet had a wonderful selection of various types of pasta, prime rib, and salad.  The dessert portion of the buffet looked incredibly good.  Also in the buffet was a children’s section with chicken nuggets and macaroni and cheese.

Andy decided to do the Make Your Own Pizza.  I was under the misconception that he would be given the ingredients and actually make his own pizza.  That is not the case, he ordered what he wanted, and it was all done.  The pizza is cooked in a brick oven, which could be seen from our table.  The pepperoni pizza was 14 inches and Andy could not finish it at all, but he did say it was very good.  Not trusting his opinion since I would be the one writing the review, I also ate two small slices.  He was right – it was incredibly good.  Storytellers uses quality ingredients making for a very tasty pizza.

Alex had the macaroni and cheese from the menu.  This was a very large serving that included fresh fruit.  Neither Andy nor I tasted his meal, but it looked wonderful, and it did get the Alex seal of approval.  The serving was large and he ate half of it before giving up because he was full.

I had ordered the Salmon with crushed potatoes and green beans.  It is important to remember that we live in Colorado and never have fresh seafood here.  The smashed potatoes were very good even without gravy.  The green beans were lightly cooked so that they were still crisp.  The best part of this meal though was the salmon, which could almost melt in my mouth it was so tender.  The taste was exquisite.

We had planned on ordering dessert since they had my favorite, a brownie sundae.  The problem was that we each enjoyed our meals so much that we left no room for dessert.  Maybe next time!

All three of us can highly recommend Storyteller’s for dinner.  This is a table service restaurant with a great atmosphere.  It was very nice to be eating in a quiet area and simply relaxing during our meal.  I know that we will be eating here again.
