Off Season Fun Times (September 19, 2007)

Off Season Fun Times

We just got back from Disneyland on a truly off season trip.  Haunted Mansion was closed for the holiday refurb and we missed it greatly.  That is the downside of going off season – ride closures.

The benefit, which we had completely forgotten about since it has been so long since we have gone in the off season were crowds.  Actually, the lack of crowds is more correct.  Lines were very short, and that was unexpected and happily noted.  Nemo was the one ride that never had a short line, and that of course is one reason other attractions were so easy to get on without a wait.

Our trips are usually in more crowded times so that we have a full entertainment schedule.  We know now that entertainment is not that important.  Alex didn’t seem to miss the Electric Parade and was happy to ride his favorite rides all day long.

Fastpass?  Who needs it in off season?  We used it for Soarin’ but that was about it for this trip.

Now we know.  Off season has its own benefits and we will definitely do it again.

It was great to basically walk on rides.  Or to go to ToonTown 1 hour before closing because there were no fireworks that night, and run into Mickey Mouse.  Going to Goofy’s Kitchen at 11:00 on a Saturday morning with empty tables all around us was different.

Fantasmic was running each night making evening rides walk-ons as well.

Yes our off season trip was incredible.  We still didn’t get everything done that we wanted to do though.  I guess that means we have to go back, right?  Such a pity.

It was wonderful to sleep in and still have early entry.

I am sure there other wonderful benefits but those are the highlights.  We had a great trip and now I am anticipating our next trip to Disneyland.
