Le Cellier Restaurant Review, EPCOT, May 2008

Le Cellier is an upscale table service restaurant located in Canada at the World Showcase of Epcot.  Le Cellier translated means The Cellar.  This steak restaurant is located down in the wine cellar of a large Canadian castle.  As you enter World Showcase it is impossible to miss the towering castle.  The theme begins as you enter the flower garden of the castle.  You follow a little path passed the gardens, a little water fall, and into the basement of the castle.  The outdoor area is lush and beautiful.  You feel as though you are entering a royal courtyard.  The brick building towers over the entrance to the restaurant.  As you enter the cellar you are immediately surrounded by luxurious feel of the restaurant.  The lobby area is full of stone and candlelight.  The moose antler candelabras are a delight to look at as you wait for your table.  We arrived for the first seating of dinner time.  Before anyone was seated the entire staff entered the lobby area and sang the National Anthem of Canada (Oh! Canada).  One woman even sang it in French as the rest sang it in English.  We were immediately seated afterward.  It was a fun way to immerse us in the Canadian atmosphere.

As you enter the restaurant your breath is taken away at the beauty of it.  There are carved wood tables, a large crackling fireplace, and moose antler candlelit chandeliers everywhere.  The look is very rich and romantic.  We were led to our table and seated in the Newfoundland section.  Our waitress came by and told us where she was from (I forget exactly where but near the Newfoundland area).  All along the walls at the tables that line the walls there are stained glass type tiles.  The tiles have different provinces and cities on them with their flower or tree etc.  We were delighted to find out our table was the Prince Edward Island table.  My husband’s family hails from Prince Edward Island and he has always wanted to travel there to see his roots.  This was an unexpected and unplanned Disney magical moment!  The tables are covered in linen and china.

We received a basket of breadsticks.  Le Cellier’s “house breadstick” was pretzel bread.  It was the most delicious bread I have ever tasted!  We had three different kinds of breadsticks while we chatted about the beautiful décor.  The menu at Le Cellier rivals five star restaurants.  There are mussles, several kinds of steaks, halibut, salmon, and mushroom ravioli.  Kid’s Picks include pasta, steak, and hot dogs.  The food is beyond praise!  My prime rib was so tender and juicy.  It was simply delicious.  The desserts were wonderful as well.  You can pick from chocolate on chocolate Whiskey cake, cheesecake, crème brulee, and my favorite dessert ever, Campfire S’mores!  Yum!  Kid’s dessert were a fruit cup and build your own sundae.

Le Cellier is a pricey restaurant, but it is well worth every penny!  If you have the time to sit and relax for an hour or two, do not miss Le Cellier.  This restaurant is magnificent!  The setting, the décor, the food!  Fantastic!
