Planning our first trip to WDW Part Four

Now I have completed my Fastpass research and have even posted the Walt Disney World Fastpass list for each of the four theme parks on our website.  You can find that list here  For those who have never heard of, let alone used Fastpass before, definitely check this article out for more information.  We absolutely love using Fastpass at Disneyland, so after finding out which attractions have this feature, I then had to confirm a usage question.  At Disneyland, you can use a Fastpass even after the time had expired, but I didn’t know if this was true of Walt Disney World.  Because of this I posted that question on our message boards, and promptly got confirmation that yes, you can use a Fastpass at Walt Disney World after the time has expired.

Knowing this information is important, because now we can grab fastpasses early in the day and use them as it becomes more crowded.  The only attraction we will need to be careful with is Toy Story Mania.  If this attraction is open when we go to Disney’s Hollywood Studios, we will follow the times on the Fastpass just in case!

We know that we will be spending most of our time at just two of the four parks.  Because of the attraction that are must see’s for us, those parks will be MagicKingdom and Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

We will spend only a few hours each at Epcot and Animal Kingdom.  Since we are only there for four days, we will definitely plan a return trip where we can give Epcot more time since this park definitely deserves a full day at the least.  Pleasing our 5 year old is the most important thing for this first trip though, and there is not much at Epcot that really interests him at this time.  He does love Soarin’, and wants to ride Test Track so the hope is that we can fit those two attraction in during this short trip.

So now we have more information on what we will be doing each day.  Since Alex and I will be on our own during the days, we do plan on counter service meals for lunches.  On our last day it will be all three of us, so now we just need to determine which restaurant we want to eat in for lunch that day, and go ahead and call Disney Dining to schedule it.  On our message boards I am hearing great things about the 50’s Primetime Café, and think that is the one we will end up eating at on our last day.

It is also widely known that while we are there it is going to be very hot, with high humidity and afternoon rain.  Keeping this in mind we have picked out several attractions we want to see that will also get us out of the heat.  Alex loves ‘it’s a small world’ and that is a nice, long 11 minute ride.  There is also Mickey’s Philharmagic, the Country Bears and other short shows to keep us happy.

The next thing we have got to figure out is exactly how much money we will need for meals each day.  In addition to meals, we will need drinks and snacks.  That will take some time to figure out.  If all three of us would be together each day all day there is not a doubt in my mind that we would do the Disney Dining Plan.  Since each day will be different for us, that is an impossibility to do even though it does save money, so once I figure all of this out, I will provide you with another planning update.
