Splash Mountain is located in Critter Country. The Fastpass machines for this attraction are located in a shaded alcove across from the Hungry Bear Restaurant.
If you do not have a Fastpass for Splash Mountain the queue begins near the Haunted Mansion and goes in front of the 50 foot drop at the end of the ride. A major portion of this queue is located outside and can get quite hot on a warm day. If you are using a Fastpass you will enter the queue near the exit to the attraction across from the Winnie the Pooh attraction.
Finally… if you are riding Splash Mountain as a Single Rider, you need to obtain a pass from the cast member at the Fastpass entrance. You will then go in the exit hand your single rider pass to a cast member and go up the stairs and over the water.
Splash Mountain is a wonderful ride filled with singing animatronic animals. The familiar song Zip A Dee Doo Dah is the theme song for this attraction.
It is important to note that you will probably get a little wet on this ride. If you don't like to get wet, you may want to skip this attraction. While the ride itself is not scary many people do find the final drop to be terrifying.
This summer we were able to take our almost four year old son on this ride for the first time. It is a favorite ride for us so we had great hopes that he would enjoy this attraction. The problem is that he absolutely hates to get wet; so that was a big concern for us. One thing we had forgotten about was that the seats of the log get wet so upon boarding the ride there was already a strike against Splash Mountain in our son's eyes because he got wet on the seat. Once the ride got underway Alex seemed to relax and have a good time until we got to the final drop. At the top of the drop he got worried but never screamed or cried. He did get somewhat wet but since young children sit with someone else (the back of the ride has a side-by-side seat), daddy was able to take the brunt of the water and keep Alex pretty much dry.
Once we were done with the ride Alex said he had fun but didn't want to go again. The next day though when we were visiting the Pooh characters he did announce he wanted to go again so it must not have traumatized him too much. We will definitely try him on this attraction again on our next trip to the Disneyland Resort.
