For those of you that over shop while at the Disneyland Resort and need to ship items home because you have no room in your luggage or for those who just find it easier to ship everything home when you buy something here is some information you need before you make this decision on how to do it.
If you make your purchases at Disneyland, California Adventure, The World of Disney, or one of the Disneyland Resort Hotel gift shops they charge for shipping based on the COST of your purchase… not the weight. Here is their cost schedule:
Up to $50.00, shipping is $7.00
$50.01 - 75.00, shipping is $14.00
$75.01 - 100.00, shipping is $21.00
$100.01 - 150.00, shipping is $26.00
$150.01 - 250.00, shipping is $36.00
$250.01 - 500.00, shipping is $76.00
$500.01 - 1000.00, shipping is $125.00
They do make some exceptions to this rule. For example: if you purchase a ring, or one of the new very pricey seri-cell's and spend over $500.00, they are not going to charge you $125.00 to ship the one item. To get these shipping charges changed you most likely will need to speak to a Manager before signing off on the shipping charges. It is unlikely a clerk will adjust the standard shipping on their own.
If you are barely over into the next level you should ask to be charged the lower level.
If you purchase one very heavy item that is under $50.00 (these prices include tax and are before any coupons) then it might be beneficial to have them ship your item when it is purchased since the under $50.00 level is pretty cheap.
A more practical and in most cases much less expensive way to have your purchases shipped home is to have it done from your hotel. If you are staying at one of the three Disney owned hotels you can have your items shipped from the Bell Services Desk. The Bell Desk can usually provide you with boxes too! You fill out forms listing every item you are having shipped and their value. You also select how you want the items shipped (company and speed… such as UPS ground) and send it all down to the Bell Desk. They have your selected shipper pick up the items and that carrier actually charges the credit card you give them. There are no hidden fees for this service and the Bell Desk charges nothing (so be sure to tip them well) for setting this up for you.
Don't forget you can also have your items delivered to a Disney Resort hotel directly from the store. By using these methods you might not ever have to carry your purchases.
If you have a car and would rather take the items to UPS yourself there are a few locations near the Disneyland Resort. There are a couple of closer UPS locations but they are drop boxes only so you can not ship larger packages.
