Disney Cruise Line Returns to West Coast for 2008

CELEBRATION, Fla. -- The Disney Magic cruise ship will return to the West Coast for the summer of 2008, offering its highly popular seven-night Mexican Riviera sailings. Disney Cruise Line developed the special itinerary in response to overwhelmingly positive feedback about its original West Coast sailings in 2005 and requests from guests who want to see the ship once again departing from the Port of Los Angeles.

"When we launched our first Disney Cruise Line Mexican Riviera sailings in 2005, the guest reaction to the itinerary was tremendous. We have a significant Disney Cruise Line fan base on the West Coast, and we look forward to taking the Disney Magic back to the Port of Los Angeles in 2008," said Disney Cruise Line President Tom McAlpin.

Beginning May 25, 2008, the Disney Magic is scheduled to sail 12 consecutive seven-night cruise vacations from the Port of Los Angeles to the Mexican Riviera ports of Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlán and Puerto Vallarta.

The itinerary for the Mexican Riviera sailings is as follows:

Guests will delight in the unspoiled beauty of the Mexican Riviera. Cabo San Lucas, the first port of call on the voyage, will treat guests to a tropical paradise of white sand beaches and crystal-clear blue waters. Combining beauty of the sea coast with cactus deserts and breathtaking mountains, Cabo San Lucas has it all.

In Mazatlán, guests can explore one of the many popular beaches, or soak up the sights and sounds of the Zona Dorada, the most popular shopping district. Seafood-lovers will enjoy the waterfront street known as the Malecón, where they will find a myriad of seafood restaurants in the shrimp capital of Mexico.

Puerto Vallarta, with more than 100 miles of scenic coastline, allows guests to absorb the natural beauty of Mexico while enjoying the vibrant culture of this contemporary destination. Whether it is zip-lining through the treetops, horseback-riding through the jungle, or dining and shopping in the popular neighborhood of Olas Altas, guests will enjoy their time spent in this final port of call.

Significant enhancements have been made to the Disney Magic since its original West Coast sailings in 2005. Today, guests can enjoy poolside movies on a 24-by-14-foot jumbo LED screen, an expanded spa and fitness center exclusively for adults and a new youth activities space designed for children ages 10-14.

Guests booking a Mexican Riviera cruise can combine the enchantment of a Disney Cruise Line vacation with the fun and excitement of Disneyland Resort by booking a two-night pre- or post-stay at one of Disney's three Anaheim resort hotels.

Disney Cruise Line specifically designed its ships with areas and activities that appeal to the unique vacation needs of every member of the family. As a result, its vacations offer guests a cruise experience not found anywhere else.

The ship features nearly an entire deck dedicated to kids -- where they can enjoy supervised activities designed for different age groups. Additionally, an experienced staff cares for infants and toddlers at Flounder's Reef Nursery, allowing parents the opportunity to explore ports of call or adult areas on the ship such as a special pool, the spa, a nighttime entertainment district and a romantic dining experience.

The Walt Disney Theatre provides a magnificent showplace of state-of-the-art sound, lighting, staging and set design. The curtain is lifted after the sun drops and original Disney musicals, family-friendly variety acts and first-run films entertain all ages.

While sailing on a Disney cruise, guests also get to enjoy three different themed restaurants through the voyage. Guests travel from the casual elegance of Lumiere's to the colorful, island-inspired Parrot Cay and Animator's Palate, where Disney animation springs to life throughout their meal. Along the way, they enjoy the familiarity of having the same wait staff with them at each restaurant they visit. Adults may also opt to dine at Palo, an exquisite restaurant featuring sweeping views and northern Italian cuisine.

The 877 family-friendly staterooms aboard each Disney ship were designed to offer maximum comfort. Most feature an industry first -- a bath-and-a-half with two separate areas, one offering a shower and sink, the other a sink and toilet.

Rates for the special West Coast cruises start at $1,599 per person. Guests can book a seven-night cruise to the Mexican Riviera, or a magical three-, four- or seven-night cruise vacation to the Bahamas and Caribbean from Port Canaveral, Fla., by calling 888/DCL-2500, visiting disneycruise.comor contacting their travel agent.
