Downtown Disney Hilton Hotel

The Downtown Disney Hilton is a sprawling hotel across the street from the Downtown Disney Marketplace.

In general the Downtown Disney hotels are not considered Disney Resort hotels.  The Hilton is a little bit different.  While not owned by Disney the Hilton does offer Extra Magic Hours, Disney Bus transportation to the parks and has a character meal.  But unlike the normal Disney Resort hotels the Hilton does not have offer Disney’s Magical Express ( Airport Transportation) and the buses from the hotel to the MagicKingdom drops you off at the Ticket and Transportation center instead of the park itself.

The lobby of the hotel is nice, but not overly grand or exquisite.  It is comfortable and more wide than deep.

Aside from the lobby there are stores (not just gift shops)… a small store that is reminiscent of a small country store a lounge, and ice cream shop and a few restaurants including a sushi restaurant.  Each Sunday morning there is a character meal at the Downtown Disney Hilton.

There are four elevators and you will never wait long to get one whether you are going up or down.  The elevators have large interiors so you will not have a problem getting on one even if there are a few other people inside the elevator.  Once you reach your floor you will see a sitting area on the other side of the hallway.  This is a quiet and comfortable spot to relax if you are waiting for family or friends.  To the right of the elevators you will find the ice machines and coke machines.

The rooms offer a King bed or two double beds.  The beds are not too soft or too hard but very comfortable.  The pillows are very plump and soft.  Each room has a mini bar that is locked unless you request it be opened.  You can have a refrigerator set up for your use at a cost of $7.50 per day.  There is a large safe in the closet with a hair dryer on top for your use.

The Hilton has its own Internet service and you can use that in your room for $9.95 per day.  While they offer both a wired and a WiFi connection the WiFi connection was very weak in our room.  I actually had a stronger WiFi connection from a nearby hotel  If you are using the Hilton’s wired ethernet connection the cord will not reach the bed so if you prefer to surf in comfort be sure to bring a long cord.  Failing that they do have the connection set up on a table with chairs.

The bathrooms have a bathtub/shower combination and a toilet.  Inside the shower you will find a line that can be pulled out so you can dry swimsuits or other items.  Keep in mind that in this very humid climate that clothing hung on this line will dry but it will take a full day to do so.
