Taking A Year To Plan our 2005 Disney Vacation - June 2005

Leanne loves to plan Disneyland Vacations: almost as much as she enjoys visiting Disneyland itself. She is also very good at it. It helps that she spent 15 years as a Travel Agent. This article is an in-depth, personal look of how she planned our June 2005 Disneyland vacation… which started the day after returning from our July 2004 Disneyland vacation. This article is very long and will be updated continually until we take our trip. A more condensed version can be found at: Planning your Disney Vacation - Our 2005 Planning A general Disneyland Planning Guide can be found at: Planning your Disney Vacation

The Vacation is Over - Trip Report

Our 2005 Disney Vacation Itinerary

June 2005

Well, we are now 26 days away from our trip of a lifetime to Disneyland. Never again will be able to attend the celebration for the 50th Anniversary of Disneyland.

All reservations have been made and paid in full, except our first night hotel. We will pay for that when we check in. I did just send an email to Willie Simpson at Howard Johnsons to confirm, and make sure they don't need a credit card now.

We should be getting our documents and airline tickets in a week or so, which will make our vacation seem even closer. I love getting those documents from Walt Disney Travel Company. It is so fun to go through them, and plan everything out.

Previously I had mentioned that we would be trying to get tickets to Fantasmic! on July 1st, so that we could see it with an online friend. This would be the first time we would meet in person. Well, this friend of mine is now on our message boards, www.disneymouselinks.com/forums going by the name DisneyDreamer if any of you are curious about what she is like.

Anyway, this morning was the morning. We made plans to begin calling at 7:55am Disney (California) time. We both turned on our Yahoo Instant Messaging, and with IM on, the phones ready, credit cards handy, we were all set. The good new is that we both got through, and both of us were able to get tickets for our families. The bad news is that Dreamer was unable to get tickets to the 9:00pm showing of Fantasmic! She was able to get tickets to the 10:30, so between shows we can say hi.

At first, we were both very depressed about this. Then I realized there was another way we could meet without really affecting either family's schedule. We could do it at a character meal. So, since Dreamer just had a few Character Meals scheduled, it was easier for her to change one of hers. Now, on June 29th, she will have dinner at Ariel's Grotto at 5:30. We have our dinner there at 6:00. The plan is to have both of our family's eating outside, introduce ourselves, and enjoy the meal. Then afterwards, I will show Dreamer and her family where we sit for the Disney Electric Parade. My parade seating locations are mentioned on the website. But now, I will actually be able to show someone in person. And because of this change, we now will have a few hours to talk, instead of just the 30 minutes or so before Fantasmic! We are both happy with this unexpected change in plans.

So, in 26 days we leave for Disneyland. In 28 days, I meet an online friend. In 30 days we see Fantasmic! on our last evening at the Disneyland Resort. In 31 days we come home.

Today I did a trial run. Last week, I did a trial run in my new sandals, and got a blister. So, I did another trial a few days later with a Band-Aid over the blister. All went well, and I found the sandals to be very comfortable. My only problem with wearing sandals the whole time we are at the Disneyland Resort is that both Tom Sawyer Island and Redwood Creek are tennis shoe places. It is hard to run around and climb rope 'bridges' in sandals.

So, over the weekend, we purchased new tennis shoes. I normally can't wear them because my feet changed so much during pregnancy. Well, we spent a long time in that shoe store, and I actually walked out with shoes I thought would be okay. So, today I did my trial run in tennis shoes. And, surprise surprise, found no blister, no sore feet, only total comfort from this trial run.

There is one problem though. My joints don't do well on these trial runs. So, I have plans to keep doing them, hoping my joints get better. It will be interesting to see

That is all for now. If you would like to get more involved in my vacation planning, and the excitement that goes with planning a Disney vacation, head on over to our forums at www. www.disneymouselinks.com/forums and say hi there! I would love to have you. Also, on the forums, I can answer any questions you have about my year of vacation planning. I hope to see you there! But until next time I update here, have a wonderful day.
