One thing many people don't know about Carnation Café is that they do make priority seating reservations. Since there is limited seating it is important to do this. Carnation Café is located on Main Street and is a great place to eat. This also happens to be one place at Disneyland where the cast members have been the longest. Our server this visit was Randy and he has been there for 30 years. In fact, we are pretty sure he was our server last year!
Carnation Café has incredible made to order food. The menu consists of sandwiches, soups, salads and specialties such as meatloaf and chicken pot pie. One thing you can be assured is that no matter what you choose the food will be great.
For this meal, we ordered the lemonades to drink as well as water. Both were refilled many times during the meal without us having to ask. The service at the restaurant is impeccable.
The entrees we enjoyed were the steak melt ($9.99) with fresh fruit, the chicken pot pie ($9.99) with potato salad and for our son the children's hot dog meal ($5.99) which was two miniature hot dogs and fresh fruit. The child's meal also came with Mickey Mouse shaped tortilla chips. (2006 prices)
I must say the chicken pot pie was out of this world. There was a light flakey crust on top, and hiding under the crust was an incredible amount of chicken. The veggie pieces were large and the sauce this was all in was obviously made fresh. As I told Randy, I don't think I will be able to eat a frozen pot pie again!
To my great disappointment Carnation Café no longer serves their incredible brownie sundae which I had been looking forward to since these reservations were made. With this sad news, we decided to share a banana split ($7.29). This was a huge dessert and easily shared by the three of us. As usually the chocolate fudge was to die for making this dessert wonderful.
The Carnation Café is an incredible restaurant with meals not typical of the standard Disneyland counter service eateries. For fresh food that tastes great, and service that is incredible, make your priority seating reservations for Carnation Café and enjoy this restaurant on your next trip to the Disneyland Resort.
